Overall, this is an excellent guide. It gave us good hotel recommendations (we went through Riga twice on our trip, as Riga is AirBaltic's hub and so tried two hotels) and good suggestions for things to tour.Two limitations. First, the maps are weak -- most of the Art Noveau tour is off the maps in the back so youhave to orienteer (or grab a tourist map at a hotel) to get to the right part of town (after which you can followthe walking map). Second, I think the book overplays the virtues of Riga's old town (which pales in comparisonto Stockholm or Tallinn) and doesn't emphasize enough the need to step into the 19th century town (theArt Noveau tour and the Central Market) and visit places (such as the open air museum) that are a short distance away.

This book's information is 8 years old. So much of what it says cannot be trusted -- especially prices now that Latvia uses the Euro. It also lacks illustrations and has few photos. Even so, it's small size makes it easy to pack, and I'll verify what information still applies when I get there.

I bought this for my mom, who is from Riga but now lives in the US. I thought she'd like to see a reminder of all the sights. The writing is fine, but I really wish it had more photos and maps. We're visual people!

I love the size of this publication, the information presented and photos inside. I hope to use the info for an upcoming trip.

This guide is from 2004 and has very little in the way of maps, recommendations etc. and then they are probably out of date anyway after 12 years.

A mild and slightly depressing retelling of a classic comedy. The character development is crude, and there were really no tense or exciting moments. The imagery helps make up for the the lack of character complexity and blasé story development. Overall it was a mildly amusing distraction occasionally bordering on tedious.

Not gripping like some of her others. Still haven't finished it.

I love how the story of twelfth night continues on with the children. Shakespeare is a major part in this story. Feste is also here....I thought it was a retelling, but it's like a sequel. Very detailed and well written.

Another great read from Celia Rees. Sovay was the first of her books I read and I fell in love. I recommend both books!

If you are a fan of Shakespeare's 12th night, this story will take your affection for that story & crush it.I'm not sure why the author felt that in order to have a new love story, she needed to trash the one which is was built on.The story does get a happy ending, but for me it was more bitter than sweet.This story is gritty, unpleasant & depressing. The reader has a front row seat to the unraveling of the romance of 12th night and it is tedious & painful. so what happens in the book ?Feste & Duke Orsino (& Violet's) daughter run around & meet all the old 12th night characters.***************spoilers**************Violet :it seems to be implied that she commits suicideOlivia: It seems to be implied that she commits suicide AND liked Violet more than Sebastian. Possibly Lesbianism feelings for VioletSebastian: drunkard & BFFs (& maybe something more?) with Antonio . Ignores Olivia & joins with Pirates & Venetians to make war on Illyria, he sells his son & his niece into slavery .Duke Orsino : Ignores Violet & is immersed in being a Duke & in preparing for war. Once the story settles down (however implausibly) in Shakespeare's London, it becomes more centered, eventually turning into a real page-turner.Celia Rees does a masterful job of bringing to life William Shakespeare, his troupe of actors, and his wife Anne. She creates a convincing picture of the intrigues of the Elizabethan court and the landscape of southern England. Unfortunately, the Illyrian characters, including the heroine, Violetta, are a little less real, even (I hate to say it) a little Disneyfied, and so are their enemies. On the other hand, the denizens of the Stratford area are delightfully Tolkien-esque (the books, not the movies).I suspect "The Fool's Girl" is a book that will be even more enjoyable on a second reading, when one knows where the story is heading.There are many other YA books about Shakespeare and his acting troupe; including Susan Cooper's time-travel story "King of Shadows" and Harry Turtledove's alternative-history "Ruled Britannia." A thoughtful young reader might want to read and compare several of these. They all have a similar message, that Shakespeare could not have written such enduring masterpieces if he had not been a deeply humane, compassionate, and courageous person.

Twelfth Night was the first Shakespeare play I ever saw, and it remains my very favorite. I was in seventh grade and had been nervous about my own capacity to understand Shakespeare's language. But as soon as the local university production of the comedy began, I was instantly hooked by the romance, the humor, the mistaken identities --- and, yes, by the language, too. I have been a fan of David Stoecklein's work for many years, and he continues to outdo himself with each new endeavor. This book is no exception. His love of horses and the west, combined with his overall vision, unique photographic eye and technique make this book truly exceptional. The variety of shots and his use of angles and light will keep you turning each page with anticipation. You feel as if you have snuck into the horses world, without the horse knowing that you are there. He successfully captures the western horse in a way that portrays them as they are: stunning, magnificent animals, deserving our our appreciation and respect. Even those who are not 'horse' fans per se, will appreciate the depth and breadth of Mr. Stoecklein's style.

This is one of the most beautiful bookes I have ever read. It has an excellent section on what the colors of horses mean as well as information on how horses came to be in America, what has happened to Indian ponies, and breed histories. This book also contains poetry from Sue Wallis. I bought this book for the pictures, but the text as definatly proved to be worth while as well.

This is by far one of the best horse related books out there. Not only are there tons of beautiful pictures but its full of so much information, from colors to trainers... great buy! definately worth your money!!!

On the less effective side, he shares these useful points in a format that is heavily burdened by a fascination with layers and layers of jargon (that could be clearly expressed in far more accessible, commonplace terms) and an intensive use of reference citations (often simply 1 - 4 words in length) that add very little to his core poimts and make most of the book read like a PhD thesis rather than an experienced practitioner's guide. Similarly, his use of diagrams and images to better illustrate some of his key points, while an admirable attempt to access visual communications, often seem to complicate the message rather than better reveal it. For example, he often uses boxes and triangles (which are inherently fixed and rigid images) where the intended purpose seems to be one of illustrating organic, fluid processes and perceptual experiences. Overall, the book could be condensed to half its current length and, thereby, deliver a far more powerful and satisfying gain for the reader.

This represents a lifetime’s worth of work from a brilliant man - thoughtfully organized to support coaches and individuals on their journeys through the thresholds and transitions of life. Can read it in a week and spend a lifetime trying to apply its wisdom and practices.

Half of the book is devoted towards explaining how the model was derived. It took to long. I like the model but never really got a feel for how a session would like and feel like. My industry is pungently over-exposed to 'coaches' who over-promise and grossly under-perform, thus eroding the joy for me and receptivity of others to it's boons. I have been losing faith.David B Drake does a lovely job of bringing me back to all the elements of coaching that have lit up my professional practice for 30 years. It is not a book for the timid - he packs his decades of insights, growth and enthusiasm into this portable book, so be prepared to take your time and savour it. This is not fast food, this is an enriching feast that will feed you for a very long time.

Drake provides the the theory, the research and practicle examples behind the critical components of Narrative Coaching. This is a must read for anyone serious about supporting others in bringing about desired changes in their lives.

Not full of practical information, but has some good points for first responders. Most of us know how to deal with a bug bite or a sunburn and to stay hydrated, but how would you collect water or sterilize it if you didn't have any? In instances where you would really need to have quality information because a doctor is not available (shock, head trauma, gunshot wounds) it advises you to seek professional medical treatment. I was hoping this would truly be a "field guide" that could be used if hiking or camping remotely...NOT THE CASE unless you be able to contact medical providers for next level care. It does have a few instances where it is helpful in saying what not to do and going through routine procedures (Heimlich, broken bone) but I will probably just stick with my USAF Survival Handbook.

This was a fair deal for the price and definitely will have its uses while it lives in my first aid kit, however I just wish it was a more updated version (I believe this was printed over 5-6 years ago). Basic medicine hasn't changed THAT much, but especially for its list of recommended first aid/survival tools - which are adapting all the time - having an updates copy might be nice.

Hopefully I won’t have to use it but a good guide I have on my Iphone and iPad. I only ordered the digital copy.

This book has a ton of useful information even. I goes into detail on how to treat wounds. I highly recommend this book.

This isn't really what I was hoping for. Most of the sections just explain about the procedure rather than how to do it. Most of the sections just say to get the person to a doctor. A very poor field manual.

First approached the book with a degree of skepticism. How I thought could it be, in 1987 Trump had no U.S. government position and was not, as far as I know, privy to any unusual information that would have been sought-after by Russia. No one could have guessed that one day he would be the U.S. president...However showing valid sources the book details how it not just in 1987 but already in 1986 that Trump was seeking a gov. position and wanted to be placed in Moskau, and that by 1987 he wanted to be viewed as something more than a glam real estate speculator, someone of substance politically (that year Trump was seen claiming to take a call from Sen. Bob Dole, then the Senate, minority leader). The book presenting detailed source material there seems to be no doubt that Soviet/Czech intelligence was spying on him in 1987. His wife might have inadvertently added to mix by claiming Trump was going to run for US President that very following year.The main part of the book then goes on detailing how the Trump's business could be used by the Russian mafia for money laundering purposes. Moreover, Unger details how mobsters take over governments.As the recently published ('after' Unger completed his book) details of the indictments of 13 Russian and the additional indictment of the 12 Russian Agents by the Mueller Investigation show there is no doubt the Russian severely interfered in the US elections to get Donald Trump elected. I read the Kindle version in one sitting, highlighting Russian and Ukranian names. Will I hear or read these names again? I’d pause, contemplate, then continue reading until finishing the book in the early morning hours. Unger has a great deal of courage to take on the Russian Mafia and their role in the Trump organization. A very good and experienced researcher with a blue chip history of political journalism. Want a really scary read? This book is for you.
